General Information




An academic conference about Chinese culture will take place in Brussels on 5th-8th September 2005. The purpose of this conference is to facilitate a cultural interchange, to celebrate the 30th anniversary of "EU - China relations" and to enhance friendly contacts between Europe and China.

The official conference languages will be English and Chinese. Translation will be provided.

Transportation

From Zaventem Airport to the Charlemagne Conference Centre
There is a regular shuttle service (line 12 ) from the airport to Rond-Point Schuman which takes approximately 25 minutes. From there, you are at two minutes by foot from the Charlemagne centre. For more information, see the Brussels public transport website (www.stib.be). By taxi, the estimated journey time to the Charlemagne Building is about 25 minutes. However, during rush hours you should allow for between 35 and 45 minutes.

From Gare Centrale to the Charlemagne Conference Centre
By taxi, about 10 minutes; ask for Rond-Point Schuman. If you travel by metro, choose direction Hermann-Debroux or direction Stockel; the nearest station is Schuman which is about two minutes away by foot.

From Brussels-Midi (arrival station for Thalys and Eurostar trains) to the Charlemagne Conference Centre
Take metro line 2 (direction Simonis) to the station Arts-Loi, where you must change to the metro line 1A (direction Hermann-Debroux) or 1B (direction Stockel). Get off at Schuman which is right next to the Charlemagne centre.

By Car
Arriving in Brussels, follow the signs Centre/Centrum, then European Commission which will take you to Rond-Point Schuman. But car park space is limited, we recommend that you use public transport.
